UOB Thailand commemorates 25th anniversary with customers and partners

Half a million baht raised to feed children in remote areas

UOB Thailand celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gala dinner at the Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel, bringing together its esteemed customers and partners. This milestone reflects the Bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting local communities and fostering business growth. More than 500,000 baht was raised at the gala dinner to fund nutrition programmes for underprivileged children in remote areas across Thailand through the “Food for Good” initiative.

The event was honoured by the presence of Mr Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance and Ms Catherine Wong, Ambassador of Singapore to Thailand.

In the keynote address, Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UOB Group, reaffirmed the Bank’s long-term commitment to Thailand and highlighted its strategic priorities. “Thailand is a critical market for UOB, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to its growth. Initiatives such as our digital banking platform, UOB TMRW, and our collaboration with the Thailand Board of Investment to facilitate foreign direct investment demonstrate our focus on innovation and investment. Our acquisition of Citigroup’s retail banking portfolio further underscores our aim to enhance our offerings and deliver greater value to our customers.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, UOB Thailand encouraged guests to contribute to the “Food For Good” programme under the Yuvabadhana Foundation, which provides nutrition support to children in remote schools, in lieu of offering flowers or gifts. This initiative reflects the Bank’s commitment to giving back to the community and promoting social well-being. The donation from the evening amounted to more than 500,000 baht.
