Bangchak Executive Reaffirms Leadership in Future Energy at SMBC’s Eco Synergy Seminar

Mr. Bundit Hansapaiboon, Chief Operations Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Refinery and Oil Trading Business Group, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, was invited to speak on the topic “A Strategic Pathway to Sustainable Aviation: SAF for ESG-Driven Growth,” during the Eco Synergy Seminar: Risks & Opportunities in ESG, hosted by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) at Grand Center Centre Point, Lumpini, Bangkok. The seminar focused on discussions on ESG operational approaches between leading organizations from Japan and Thailand, highlighting strategic insights and the application of advanced technologies to drive environmentally, socially, and economically responsible business practices, and updates on relevant regulations and compliance requirements, with experts sharing valuable knowledge and experiences. Mr. Tatsushi Nishioka, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Thailand delivered the opening remarks.

Mr. Bundit shared Bangchak’s vision and strategic direction as a pioneer in future energy, highlighting the company’s development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) under the operation of BSGF Company Limited, a Bangchak Group affiliate. This initiative exemplifies Bangchak’s clear ESG-driven approach—environmentally, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and repurposing used cooking oil; socially, by creating jobs throughout the supply chain and supporting a systematic circular economy; and in terms of governance, by aligning operations with national policies and international standards. In addition to SAF, the production unit is also capable of producing HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil or Renewable Diesel).

BSGF also showcased an exhibition on the “Fry to Fly” and “No Refry” initiatives to raise awareness about waste management, environmental protection, and public health through the promotion of safe, non-reused cooking oil. The exhibition highlighted cross-sector collaboration, from purchasing used cooking oil at Bangchak service stations to building partnerships with government agencies and the private sector for sustainable feedstock sourcing, aiming to establish a sustainable supply chain.
