Atthakrit Chimplapibul, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bitkub Online Co., Ltd., expressed confidence in the potential of the TouristDigiPay project to elevate Thailand as a regional leader in digital assets.

Bitkub Online Co., Ltd., operator of Thailand’s leading digital asset exchange Bitkub Exchange, has announced its participation in the TouristDigiPay sandbox program. The 18-month initiative allows foreign tourists to convert their digital assets into Thai baht and spend through the e-money system nationwide.
The project represents a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to provide additional options for foreign tourists while attracting capital from the digital asset industry into the country and stimulating the national economy.
Atthakrit Chimplapibul said “The TouristDigiPay project marks a promising beginning for Thailand as one of the world’s first countries to pioneer this system for tourism stimulation. With over 560 million digital asset holders globally, this presents a significant opportunity to attract substantial capital to boost our economy through the tourism industry.”
As a participating partner, Bitkub Exchange has expressed readiness to support the TouristDigiPay initiative. “We believe this project will stimulate the economy and strengthen Thailand’s digital economy, positioning us as a regional leader. Bitkub Exchange is preparing to facilitate convenient and rapid account opening for tourists, partnering with e-money service providers with physical locations, particularly at airports. Tourists will be able to convert digital assets to Thai baht at optimal rates, leveraging Bitkub Exchange’s position as Thailand’s highest liquidity trading platform. Users can be confident they will receive competitive exchange rates. After converting digital assets to Thai baht, spending will be as convenient as locals experience through the QR PromptPay system, ensuring both convenience and speed.”
The initiative positions Thailand at the forefront of digital asset tourism integration, potentially setting a precedent for other countries in the region.
