Experts to discuss water security and climate change at the WSCC2022

The Water Security and Climate Change Conference (WSCC) is an annual event where scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders from various sectors discuss the diverse facets of water security and its inter-relationship with climate variability and climate change. The overarching objective of these conferences is to proliferate the exchange of knowledge and practical know-how on the intrinsic relationship between water security and climate change, with a view to advance fundamental and action research in this domain that will help humankind address one of the greatest challenges of our times. The conference strives to go beyond science and build bridges between state-of-the-art advancements in multiple disciplines and different groups of stakeholders and practitioners. 

This year, the WSCC will be held from 01 to 03 December 2022 at Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit in a hybrid format. H.E. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, The Government of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Georg Schmidt, Ambassador of Germany to Thailand will give the opening remarks at the event. The conference is addressed by expert keynote speakers namely; Prof. Mihir Shah (Professor, Shiv Nadir University), Prof. Saleemul Huq (Director, ICCCAD), Dr. Claudia Ringler (Deputy Director, IFPRI), Prof. Tony Wong (Professor, Monash University), Dr. Elena López Gunn (Director, ICATALIST), Prof. Cecilia Tortajada (Professor, University of Glasgow), and Dr. Aditi Mukherji (Principal Researcher, IWMI).

The themes of the conference are:

  1. i) Transitioning from sectoral to nexus thinking,
  2. ii) Robustifying climate change adaptation strategies,

iii) Translating knowledge into action

The conference will feature keynote sessions, technical sessions, partner sessions, special sessions, and side events.
