MAKE by KBank indicates a significant financial trend for 2025: Thais are increasingly turning to “money allocation for spending control”, boosting the popularity of the app’s Cloud Pocket, which helps them save 40% more effectively

KBTG, developer of the MAKE by KBank application, has identified a new financial trend among Thai users. While they once focused primarily on saving, the majority are now prioritizing “money allocation to control their daily expenses”. This shift shows a significant increase in financial discipline and reinforces the growing popularity of the app’s “Cloud Pocket.”

Mr. Chetaphan Siridanupath, Managing Director of KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG), said that the user data of the MAKE by KBank application from January to July 2025 shows a significant shift in financial behavior. Instead of just saving money, most users are now actively engaging in financial planning by allocating funds to control their daily expenses. This reflects a shift in behavior from “only saving money” to “systematic planning for spending”, which is an important foundation of sustainable financial discipline.

Based on usage data from the MAKE by KBank app, the top Cloud Pocket or “sub-pocket” categories this year are “daily/weekly/monthly expenses,” “travel expenses,” “debt repayment,” and “insurance premiums.” These have overtaken “savings,” which was the most popular category in 2024. Six out of ten Cloud Pockets created are related to “expenses” such as food, water, and electricity bills. Categories with the fastest growth compared to last year include housing expenses, which has risen ninefold, and running-related activities like “shoes” or “marathon,” which have grown more than threefold. Allocating funds in advance using Cloud Pockets not only enables users to manage expenses more effectively but also directly supports their savings. Users can create an unlimited number of sub-pockets based on their financial goals – whether for savings or for specific expenses. Statistics show that Cloud Pocket users save 40 percent more than those who do not use the feature. Gen Z users prefer to allocate funds on a weekly basis, while Gen Y users opt for monthly management.

In 2025, MAKE by KBank further strengthens its position as a leader in financial management solutions with the launch of three new types of Cloud Pockets. The first is “Cloud Saving,” designed as a savings calendar. It allows users to schedule savings on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis – ideal for those who want to build financial discipline or prepare emergency funds. The second is “Cloud Wishlist,” which makes every big goal easier to achieve by setting the goal’s timeframe and averaging the monthly amount to be saved, ideal for saving towards goals with a clear timeline, such as travel, shopping, or preparing payments. Lastly, “Cloud Credit Card” for systematic billing payment reminders allows the addition of card expenses and money preparations for multiple card transactions at once. Users can upgrade their existing Cloud Pocket to the new type without deleting or recreating it, simply by going to the desired Cloud Pocket, selecting the three-dot icon in the upper right corner, and then choosing “Cloud Pocket Settings” to change the type.

Mr. Chetaphan added, “Systematic money allocation is the starting point for true financial stability. Therefore, MAKE by KBank is committed to continuously developing new features and experiences, as well as expanding its transaction partners for top-ups and bill payments, covering utilities, mobile phone bills, internet fees, and credit card payments. This is to meet user needs by making daily money management easy and enjoyable, allowing users to plan, manage their income and expenses, and effectively achieve their financial goals within a single application.”
