WP Energy Concludes “The Best Thai Street Food 2026” Positioning “Worldgas ZERO WASTE: You Throw, We Turn” as a Blueprint for Circular Sustainability

“Worldgas” sparks a green event trend, repurposing over 300 decorative burlap bags into practical everyday items while successfully reducing food waste and recycling stretch plastics.

WP Energy Public Company Limited, a leading integrated energy group and distributor of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) under the “Worldgas” brand, has marked a major sustainability milestone with the success of its “Worldgas ZERO WASTE: You Throw, We Turn” campaign. Hosted at The Best Thai Street Food 2026 from May 15–17, 2026, at Parc Paragon, the initiative proved that Thailand’s vibrant street food culture can thrive alongside tangible environmental stewardship, engaging over 100,000 Thai and international visitors.

Chomkamol Poompanmoung, Chief Executive Officer of WP Energy Public Company Limited, stated: “The ‘Worldgas ZERO WASTE: You Throw, We Turn’ project reflects our commitment to tackling Thailand’s growing municipal waste challenges. Built upon our core ‘We Promise’ mission—which pledges to support communities and foster social well-being—this initiative elevates our long-standing support for food festivals. By championing sustainable practices, we aim to generate income for local vendors and drive economic growth for small-scale culinary entrepreneurs in a meaningful, long-term way.”

To achieve a complete waste management cycle, WP Energy meticulously planned The Best Thai Street Food 2026 festival’s infrastructure from upstream to downstream, successfully implementing the 3R concept:

  • Reduce (Minimizing waste at the source): Partnering with FEST by SCGP, the event completely replaced foam and single-use plastics with clean, safe, and biodegradable packaging. This initiative, combined with a rising consumer preference for take-home dining, significantly reduced waste generated on-site.
  • Reuse (Circulating event decor): Structural elements and decorations were strategically designed for immediate reuse. Following the event, materials were carefully salvaged and stored to be rotated across future company events, minimizing budget waste and reducing environmental impact.
  • Recycle (Processing materials into new products): The event featured highly visible waste segregation stations to separate clean, dry recyclables—including paper, glass, metal, and plastic—ensuring they reached recycling facilities in optimal condition for processing.

“This milestone is a direct result of WP Energy’s ‘We Promise’ commitment to social and environmental responsibility. By introducing the ‘Worldgas ReTurn’ waste-management model systematically and correctly at one of the year’s largest food festivals, we have successfully demonstrated how the Circular Economy can be integrated into high-traffic events to maximize resource efficiency,” Ms. Chomkamol added.

Noppavong Omathikul, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of WP Energy Public Company Limited, added: “Over the three-day event, our ‘Worldgas ZERO WASTE: You Throw, We Turn’ campaign delivered measurable results and set a new benchmark for Thai food festivals. Notably, we breathed new life into the event’s decorative burlap bags by upcycling and distributing over 300 of them as reusable lifestyle items for attendees and the public.”

Despite hosting over 100,000 attendees, the event achieved remarkably low waste figures. Systematic data collection recorded only 393 kilograms of food waste, 48 kilograms of general recyclables, 55 kilograms of aluminum cans, and 11.5 kilograms of plastic bottles. This impressive outcome highlights the efficiency of the event’s waste-sorting layout and the outstanding cooperation from vendors and consumers alike.

Additionally, the campaign collected 4.5 kilograms of hard-to-decompose stretch plastics, which were delivered to the “Won Project” to be recycled back into the supply chain in accordance with international standards. This thorough attention to detail underscores WP Energy’s commitment to environmental responsibility across every operational level.

“These results prove that with the right strategy, we can build a highly sustainable Food Ecosystem. WP Energy is proud to share this blueprint, and we hope to inspire other industries to join us in driving balanced, sustainable growth for our planet,” Noppavong concluded.
