Both Devasom resorts on opposite coasts awarded One MICHELIN Key

The independent Thai brand has two properties, Devasom Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand and Devasom Khao Lak on the Andaman Sea. Each now holds a Key.

Devasom Resorts’ two properties have each received One MICHELIN Key in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026. Devasom Hua Hin Resort sits on the Gulf of Thailand, Devasom Khao Lak Beach Resort & Villas on the Andaman coast of Phang Nga. They are the only two resorts the family-owned brand operates.

The MICHELIN Key is the Guide’s distinction for hotels, the equivalent of the Star for restaurants. Inspectors assess architecture and interior design, the quality and consistency of service, personality and character, value, and the contribution a hotel makes to the experience of its setting. The Key follows several years of MICHELIN Guide recognition for the brand’s two restaurants in Khao Lak.

“We have experimented more than a boutique group of our size perhaps should,” said Is Atirak, Managing Director, Devasom Resorts. The purpose behind that experimentation is to give guests experiences they would not find elsewhere. “The intention never changed: less noise, more connection, hospitality that is genuine rather than copied and pasted,” he said.

Two resorts, two coasts

Devasom was founded in 2009 by a family from Bangkok who left their corporate careers and the city to live differently, and to look after guests as they would their own. The first resort opened in 2010 in Hua Hin, Thailand’s first seaside resort town, in the Thai-Victorian style of the early-20th-century Siamese summer mansions. It has 24 sea-view rooms and villas, and PRIBPRI Heritage Table, which takes the ancient name of Phetchaburi, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and keeps the province’s family recipes on the table.

The second opened in December 2018 in Khao Lak, between a freshwater lagoon and the beach of the Andaman coast, with a design inspired by the Maritime Silk Road that once passed this coast. It has 69 rooms, pool suites and pool villas. TAKOLA Thai Restaurant, MICHELIN Bib Gourmand 2021-2024, cooks southern Thai dishes, while Devasom Beach Grill cooks seafood landed each morning at nearby Thap Lamu pier and has been in the MICHELIN Guide for six consecutive years.

“Devasom began as a small family business, with the intention that anyone who arrives should feel they have come home, to people waiting for their return,” said Ath Atirak, Co-founder and Director of Development.

A focused approach

At both resorts the hospitality comes from an all-Thai team, many of them from the surrounding districts. Wellness runs through the year: Devasom Spa | Wellness in Khao Lak, full moon sound baths, mindful retreats and the annual Devasom Sol Festival, which brings visiting practitioners to Khao Lak for a week of activities and workshops.

The culture of each coast is kept in daily use rather than on display. Kala Terra Art and Craft Studio, opened in 2025, teaches ceramics in Khao Lak. An artist-in-residence programme invites one artist at a time to stay and make work from the region. Listening lounges at both resorts play vinyl on analogue systems, and in Hua Hin the Heritage Drive takes guests through the town’s past in a vintage car.

In Takuapa district, the Devasom Scholarship has paid full bachelor’s-degree tuition and an education allowance for each awarded student since 2022; four students are studying on it today. The Devasom School Lunch Project feeds 650 children at two schools. Neither resort has used single-use plastics since 2012.

“The best part of looking after Devasom is a circle of happiness,” said Rasri Atirak, President and Co-founder. “When our guests, our team and our neighbours are happy with the care we give them, that happiness comes back to us, too.”

The group credits its all-Thai team for the recognition, and thanks the guests, partners and friends who share in it.
