A taste of Thailand arrives on the Amalfi Coast: Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel welcomes Chef Arwuth Boribal for a limited-time Pop-Up

Perched high above the Mediterranean, La Locanda della Canonica at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel is set to transform into a Thai culinary destination this autumn. From 13 to 24 October, the cliffside restaurant will host a vibrant pop-up led by Chef Arwuth Boribal of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, offering guests a unique journey through the bold flavours and traditions of Thai cuisine.

This limited-time experience celebrates Anantara’s Thai origins, bringing the culinary artistry of Bangkok to Amalfi’s dramatic coastline. For nearly two weeks, La Locanda’s dinner menu will be completely reimagined with authentic Thai recipes, vibrant spices and colourful presentations. Guests can expect a flavourful voyage across Thailand, with dishes inspired by classic street food as well as royal Thai traditions, crafted with Chef Arwuth’s contemporary flair.

The pop-up is more than a dining event; it is a meeting of cultures, where Thai flavours meet Amalfi’s scenic beauty. On La Locanda’s sun-drenched terrace, guests will savour the contrast of tropical ingredients and Mediterranean Sea breezes, creating a sensory experience unlike any other.

The dinner menu highlights include authentic Siamese classics, such as tom yum goong – a spicy and sour soup featuring Thai river prawns, and gaeng khiew wan gai – a traditional Thai green curry with chicken and creamy coconut milk. A salt-grilled sea bream with peanuts, lime sauce and garden vegetables combine the freshness of Amalfi seafood with the intense aromas of Southeast Asia, and the fusion continues with a selection of pizzas blending culinary influences from Italy and Thailand. The panang moo pizza features panang pork curry with coconut milk, onion, red chilli and kaffir lime leaves, while the kra prow goong pizza is topped with wok-fried kra-praw sauce with prawns, mushrooms, red chilli and holy basil.

Adding to the excitement, on 16 October, La Locanda will host its much-anticipated Yellow Night – Thai Edition. This lively celebration, open to both hotel guests and locals, will feature DJ sets, live music, signature cocktails, and Chef Arwuth live at the grill. From 7.30 pm until midnight, the terrace will come alive as Amalfi embraces a night of Thai-inspired festivity.

“This pop-up is a chance to showcase the true breadth of Anantara’s culinary world,” says Chef Claudio Lanuto, Executive Chef of Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel. “By bringing Chef Arwuth from Bangkok to Amalfi, we are honouring the brand’s Thai roots while creating an unforgettable gastronomic dialogue between two dynamic culinary destinations.”

The Thai Pop-Up at La Locanda della Canonica runs 13–24 October with dinner service daily. Reservations are highly recommended.
