Bangchak Strengthens 41 Years of Partnership with Communities Around Its Refinery Enhancing Quality of Life through Innovative Community Programs

Recently, Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, and Director of the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation, presided over a training workshop under the “Fry to Fly Station” initiative. The program, which began with four pilot schools in 2024, is expanding to 40 schools in 2025. Participating schools serve as collection points for used cooking oil, which is processed into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by BSGF Company Limited. The initiative also instills environmental awareness in youth through the principles of the Circular Economy. Experts from Bangchak and the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation provided training on managing the collection and purchase of used cooking oil to more than 200 teachers and students from Grade 4 to Grade 8 at the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery on Sukhumvit 64.

She also observed the “Seniors Against Cyber Threats” activity for elderly residents from the communities surrounding the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery. The program was designed to enhance knowledge of online safety and build confidence in using technology securely. The session was led by Ms. Nappakarn Boonprasom, Elderly Curriculum & Activity Leader, YoungHappy Co. Ltd., as the instructor.

For community livelihood development, Bangchak has organized the “Bangchak Creates Jobs, Builds Careers” program, offering representatives from eight communities around the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery vocational training in food, dessert, and beverage preparation. The program also included a competition where participants presented fried dishes and beverage creations, guided by professional chefs Ms. Warintip Arkomvichitchai (Chef Poon) and Ms. Warralux Rabeng (Chef Run) from Little Bite Studio.

Bangchak also organized a workshop to enhance teachers’ digital-era skills, titled “AI for Ideas, Canva for Creation: Workshop for Digital-Era Teachers.” The session was led by Dr. Awirut Chatmalathong, Director of the Risk Management Center at Chulalongkorn University and an AI applications expert. More than 100 teachers from schools around the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery participated, gaining practical experience in applying modern tools such as ChatGPT, Canva, and CapCut to create effective teaching materials and inspire creativity in future learning.

Mrs. Gloyta said, “Throughout 41 years of business operations, Bangchak has remained committed to sustainable growth alongside the environment and society. Our initiatives for the communities surrounding our operations have been continuously developed and modernized to meet their needs and to enhance quality of life across multiple dimensions, including the environment, livelihoods, education, health, and safety.”
