Vision to Elevate Thailand’s Space Technology onto the Global Stage

The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization), or GISTDA, today officially opened “Thailand Space Expo 2026,” Thailand’s national space technology and business exhibition.
Held under the theme “Space Synergy,” the event brings together the public, private and education sectors to connect technology, business, investment and industry. With the central message that “space is not beyond our reach—it is a New Growth Engine,” the expo aims to translate space technology and data into economic value and practical applications across multiple sectors. It also seeks to position Thailand as the ASEAN Space Gateway and advance the country’s role from a user of space technology to a creator and developer. Thailand Space Expo 2026 takes place from 28–31 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. onwards, at ICONSIAM Hall, Level 7, ICONSIAM.
As the world faces critical challenges ranging from climate change and natural disasters to resource security, space technology is no longer confined to exploring the universe. It has become a key tool for overcoming business limitations and improving quality of life. Thailand must seize this opportunity by integrating space infrastructure, satellite data and artificial intelligence to generate greater economic value, enhance international competitiveness and build a robust ecosystem extending from grassroots communities to large-scale industries.
“Thailand Space Expo 2026” goes beyond the boundaries of a conventional exhibition to become a powerful global business negotiation platform through its B2B Business Matching program. The event serves as an important meeting point for Thai SMEs, startups and space-industry component manufacturers to engage directly with international investors and leading venture capital firms.
The exhibition brings together more than 85 companies showcasing advanced innovations, alongside investors and business partners already registered from over 12 countries. A major highlight is the participation of leading international space technology companies, with more than 20 companies represented through dedicated pavilions. Their presence is expected to identify potential partners and facilitate the formal integration of Thai businesses into the global space supply chain—opening new pathways for business, investment and industry collaboration. It will also create opportunities for joint technology and solution development tailored to domestic market needs, moving Thailand beyond dependence on imported technologies.
The event features an extensive showcase of technologies reflecting both the frontiers of human capability and the growing potential of Thai talent. Highlights include a historic first in Thailand connected to the Artemis II mission, featuring zinnia and chilli seeds that travelled around the Moon aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft—a significant milestone for the field of space biology.
The expo will also host more than 50 world-class conference sessions, bringing together over 100 leading experts and senior executives from major global space organizations, including NASA, ESA, JAXA, Rocket Lab and Airbus. Discussions will cover every dimension of the space sector, including the direction of the space economy, lunar exploration strategies, satellite-manufacturing innovation, spaceport development, the use of satellite data for disaster management and even UFO phenomena.
Another key highlight is Thailand’s space achievements, featuring major advances in the country’s space sector. These include THEOS-3, a new satellite being developed entirely by Thai engineers; a proposed 18-satellite Earth observation constellation; the Thailand Liquid Crystals in Space project; and the integration of satellite data with AI for precision agriculture, carbon-credit assessment and smart urban planning.
The sustainable development of any industry must begin with its people. The event therefore provides young people and university students with the special opportunity to meet real astronauts, inspiring them to pursue their ambitions in science and space. An exhibition zone will also showcase work by Thai students and researchers, demonstrating that the capabilities of Thailand’s younger generation are competitive on the international stage.
Additional activities include the Space Career & Education Forum, Space Debate Challenge and Geo Hackathon 2026, held under the theme “Pixel to Policy: Unlocking Insights, Accelerating Impact.” The hackathon challenges young innovators to transform space-derived big data into practical solutions capable of informing and influencing national policy.
Further reinforcing Thailand’s profile and role within the global space community, the country is also hosting two major international events during the same period: the 10th Moon Village Association Workshop and Symposium, an international platform helping shape the future of sustainable lunar exploration and settlement; and APRSAF-32, the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum, the region’s largest space cooperation platform. Together, these events will strengthen Thailand’s position as a hub for the seamless exchange of knowledge, technology and international collaboration.
Thailand Space Expo 2026 will be held from 28–31 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. onwards, at ICONSIAM Hall, Level 7, ICONSIAM, Bangkok. As one of the year’s most significant space events, the expo invites businesses, researchers, young people, students and the general public to experience space technologies and innovations, explore practical applications of space-derived data and discover emerging opportunities in the Space Economy.
