TikTok, the global discovery platform, launches the “Family Digital Safety Playbook” (Thai Edition) as part of its #TeensAware campaign. This initiative reinforces TikTok’s commitment to Teen Safety and age-appropriate online experiences built on mutual family understanding. Developed in close collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), the Internet Foundation for Development of Thailand (INET), and Thailand Safe Internet Coalition (TSIC), the Playbook will be rolled out across schools, parent networks, local communities, and relevant agencies nationwide.

Chanida Klyphun, Director of Public Policy and Government Relations for Southeast Asia, TikTok, stated: “Fostering a secure digital environment and delivering age-appropriate experiences has always been TikTok’s highest priority. We firmly believe that digital safety cannot be achieved by any one party alone, but requires an integrated, collaborative effort across all stakeholders. This includes advancing the platform’s Safety by Design approach, and more. It also means supporting proactive efforts by government, civil society, and, most importantly, families. Building on the success of our national cyber-awareness campaign, #ThaisAware, the #TeensAware campaign specifically focuses on youth and families. Our goal is to cultivate digital literacy and healthy digital well-being among young users while fostering mutual understanding with their parents.”
At the event, TikTok launched the Thai edition of “Family Digital Safety Playbook,” a guide to creating a safer digital environment, available both in print and as an interactive experience on the TikTok. Users can access the guide by searching relevant keywords, including Family Digital Guide, TikTok Teen Safety, Youth Safety, TikTok Teen Protection Features and more. The Playbook invites families to gather around and take the “Family Digital Vibe” quiz together. It translates technical security settings into engaging, practical conversations. It addresses real-world online risks facing Thai households today, including AI deepfake call center scams, fake news, money mule schemes, and e-commerce fraud. It also highlights core features like Family Pairing, which allows parents to link their accounts with their teens to thoughtfully manage their TikTok experience through Daily Screen Time Limits, Restricted Mode, and Direct Messaging Controls.
To protect younger audiences, TikTok requires users to be at least 13 years old to create an account, ensuring their experience is built on a foundation of safety. Accounts for users aged 13–17 are automatically safeguarded by more than 50 default privacy and safety settings. These include a 60-minute daily screen time limit, default private account settings, restricted direct messaging (DMs), and content filtering on the For You feed.
Siriprapa Weerachaising, Outreach & Partnerships Lead, Trust and Safety, TikTok, added: “At the heart of developing this Safety Playbook is true multi-stakeholder collaboration—bringing together the platform, government agencies, civil society, and most importantly, youth representatives. Each party contributed valuable insights to craft practical content tailored to the real online situations facing Thais today. Driven by a shared mission to advance Teen Safety, this campaign marks a crucial step forward for TikTok and its partners in building a safer digital world for youth, laying a strong foundation for diverse future collaborations.”
Additionally, TikTok released its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q1 2026. TikTok combines technology with human moderation to detect and remove policy-violating content. In Thailand, a proactive approach led to the removal of over 3.29 million non-compliant videos in the first quarter alone, achieving a 99.2% proactive detection rate prior to user reports,
Beyond building a safe digital environment, TikTok remains committed to driving transparency and future-proof digital literacy. The Platform continues to advance AI technology to empower creativity while promoting AI literacy and transparency. Partnering with global experts on AI literacy initiatives, TikTok became the first video platform to adopt C2PA Content Credentials and recently joined the C2PA Steering Committee to help shape international AI transparency standards. To date, TikTok has labeled over 3 billion AI-generated videos (AIGC) worldwide through various tools and technologies, including invisible watermarking, helping users stay informed and better understand AI content.
The launch event also featured a panel discussion titled “Enhancing Teen Safety — A Shared Social Responsibility,” bringing together key stakeholders from government, civil society, youth representatives, and leading creators. Key panelists included representatives from MDES, the Department of Children and Youth under MSDHS, the TikTok Safety Advisory Council, INET, and the Children and Youth Council of Thailand, alongside prominent creators such as Pol-Nawapol Chuamvarasart from SaySci (recent Webby Awards winner) and Cindy-Sirinya Bishop, a celebrity model mom from Cindysirinya, who shared valuable insights to drive Teen Safety across multiple dimensions.
Dr. Srida Tanta-atipanit, Managing Director of the Internet Foundation for Development of Thailand (INET), commented on this collaboration: “Protecting children and youth online is not the duty of any single party, but a ‘shared social responsibility’ encompassing platforms, government agencies, civil society, and families. Joining forces with TikTok for the #TeensAware campaign represents a major milestone in shifting from a reactive stance to cultivating true proactive ‘Digital Immunity.’ By applying the Family Digital Safety Playbook in daily life, we can instill media literacy alongside smart, safe, and responsible technology habits in young Thais nationwide. Looking ahead, INET plans to integrate this Playbook into learning activities across schools, parent networks, and local communities, while leveraging Thailand’s Safe Internet Network for broader dissemination.”
Cindy – Sirinya Bishop, prominent super model mom and creator of Cindysirinya, added regarding the role of modern families in the digital age: “As a mother, banning or taking an anti-social media stance is no longer the answer because digital space is where today’s youth learn and socialize. I believe the most important thing is not to fear technology, but to learn and build understanding alongside our children—turning our homes into a ‘Safe Zone’ centered on open-minded listening without judgment. Whenever there is mutual trust and respect within the family, external online threats become manageable challenges that parents and children can navigate together with confidence. Having a resource like the Family Digital Safety Playbook makes establishing shared family rules much easier, while turning safety features like Family Pairing into fun activities that bring warmth to the home.
