“NST Fair 2026” Concludes with Great Success, Reinforcing Thailand’s Status as an International Science Hub and Showcasing Potential as Host of ASPAC 2026 with 68 Agencies from 30 Economies, as Over 1,500 Schools Book Visits to Spark Future Skills
The National Science Museum (NSM) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) achieved grand success in organizing the “National Science and Technology Fair 2026” (NST Fair 2026) under the “Intelligence in Science for a Sustainable Future” theme held between 15 to 23 August 2026 at Halls 9 to 11, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. The event received an overwhelming response, with over 1,500 educational institutions and schools nationwide making advance bookings, along with a lively turnout of children, youth, and the public throughout all 9 full days.
Mr. Suwarong Wongsiri, Acting Director of NSM, revealed that this year’s National Science and Technology Fair was successful both in terms of international dimensions and its impact on the learning of Thai youth. At the international level, NSM demonstrated its potential as a regional science hub by hosting the Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres Conference 2026 (ASPAC Conference 2026). The conference attracted significant interest from executives, science communicators, and experts from 68 agencies across 30 global economies, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Germany, Australia, and ASEAN member states, who gathered to exchange strategies and collectively define the direction for next-generation learning centers.
At the same time, the core heart of the event was to “ignite inspiration and build future skills for youth” through hands-on out-of-classroom learning experiences. Children practiced essential skills in questioning, observation, and critical thinking, whether by navigating technology in the “AI Revolution: The New Human Edge” exhibition to step up as shapers of artificial intelligence; exploring the power of rare earth elements in the “Rare Earth: The Invisible Power” exhibition, which connects to the EV and clean energy industries; or raising awareness about food security and biodiversity through “The Hidden World of Rangelands” and “Over the Bloom” exhibitions, which offered new perspectives on the value of flowers to ecosystems and biodiversity. All of these helped spark curiosity and foster lifelong learning skills among Thai youth.
“NSM would like to thank partners from all sectors, teachers, and all young people who joined to open the world of learning. This success will serve as an essential foundation for elevating the Thai science museum industry. Following the conclusion of the event, NSM will bring selected exhibits and displays to showcase at museums under NSM, as well as distribute them to various learning centers to continuously expand learning opportunities for youth in regional areas,” said Mr. Suwarong.
Furthermore, to build upon inspiration and extend opportunities for youth, NSM invites young participants to submit their entries for the “NST Fair Fly to Singapore, Chase Your Dreams” contest. Participants stand a chance to win a study trip package focusing on science and innovation in Singapore, featuring a total of 9 awards (4 Judge’s Choice Awards and 5 Popular Vote Awards).
