TOKYO KOSEI WIND ORCHESTRA (TKWO), A legendary wind orchestra of 40 members from Japan, is traveling to Thailand to perform for the first time, with shows scheduled for September 11–12, 2026, at Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University (Salaya).
This concert is presented under the title “TOKYO KOSEI WIND ORCHESTRA CONCERT IN BANGKOK.” This collaboration between the Saxophone Association (Thailand) and the College of Music, Mahidol University, marks a significant opportunity for enthusiasts of both classical music and anime music. For over 65 years, TKWO has played a pivotal role in the development of the wind orchestra, distinguished by its exceptional performance standards and performances of music from famous anime. For the concert in Thailand, the orchestra has prepared three legendary anime pieces: “Tank!”, “Lupin the Third Theme ’78” and “Spy x Family Medley,” including other leading wind orchestra pieces, such as Alvamar Overture by the American composer, Jame Barnes, and the work by Gustav Holst.
Daichi Deguchi is a conductor who has gained experience working with maestros such as Junichi Hirokami, Tatsuya Shimono, and Christian Ehwald; he also studied opera conducting under Hans-Dieter Baum. He was selected through auditions to participate in masterclasses with world-renowned conductors Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi and has been invited to collaborate with leading orchestras, including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Armenian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre Victor Hugo.
The Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra’s visit to Thailand marks a significant milestone in the history of the Thai wind music community.
