Digital travel platform Agoda has unveiled its ranking of what Thai travelers prioritize most when searching for accommodation in 2026. Looking at the most-used search filters on its website this year, Agoda reports that Asian travelers consistently prioritize accommodation type, included breakfasts and strong review scores when seeking holiday stays, while a growing interest in pet-friendly options is also emerging as a uniquely Thai trend.

In 2026, “type of accommodation” stands out as the leading filter among Thai travelers, accounting for 19% of all filter activity and reinforcing the importance of selecting the right stay as a top priority in the travel planning journey. At the same time, review scores continue to play a pivotal role in decision-making, with properties rated 8 and above representing 9% of filter usage and ranking among the preferred criteria. Together, these trends highlight a clear shift in traveler behavior, with Thai travelers increasingly seeking accommodation that not only fits their needs but also delivers trusted, high-quality experiences validated by fellow guests.
Dining and creature comforts drive Asian travel choices
Dining is a key focus for Asian travelers. The filter for breakfast included stays is the region’s second-most searched at 12%, reflecting a widespread desire for convenience and value at the start of the day. Thai travelers go a step further, with “breakfast included” searches reaching
13%, outperforming the regional average and reinforcing how essential this offering is when choosing accommodation. Thai travelers also seek specific creature comforts when choosing stays. Swimming pools (4%) and bathtubs (2%) both appear among the top filters, signaling a preference for amenities that help guests relax and unwind.
Thai travelers stand out with growing demand for pet-friendly stays
Thai travelers are distinguishing themselves from their regional peers through a growing preference for pet-friendly accommodation. While “pets allowed” does not feature among the top search filters for travelers in other Asian markets, it ranks No.10 in Thailand, accounting for 2% of all filter activity.
Thailand stands out as the only market in the region where traveling with pets ranks among the top 10 search filters, signaling a clear and emerging shift in travel behavior. The presence of pet-friendly stays on the list highlights how more Thai travelers are choosing to include their pets in holiday plans, turning trips into fully inclusive experiences for the whole household, furry friends included.
Thai travelers want flexibility before, during and after the stay
Flexibility across booking and payment options are clear priorities for Thai travelers in 2026. Free cancellation and flexible payment options (both at 5%) rank among the top search filters, highlighting the importance of refundable bookings and payment convenience.
Other search options that offer flexibility, choice and convenience also feature among the top filters for Thai travelers, including car parking (4%) and location (2%). These indicate that travelers are increasingly keen on accommodation that can cater to diverse lifestyles, whether driving to destinations or selecting a convenient location.
