Syngenta Crop Protection Co., Ltd. recently held a foundation stone laying ceremony to mark the commencement of construction of its new Research and Development (R&D) Station. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Ms. Kluaymai Nuchniyom, General Manager of Syngenta Crop Protection Co., Ltd., Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head of Crop Protection Development for Asia, and Mr. Nawab Ali, Director of Crop Protection Development at Syngenta Crop Protection Co., Ltd. The event was held at the construction site in Huai Mon Thong Subdistrict, Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom Province, signifying an important milestone in advancing Thailand’s agricultural research and development capabilities.
The new R&D Station is established as a central hub for research, testing, and technology transfer in crop protection, with the aim of enhancing agricultural productivity. It will focus on key economically important crops in Thailand, including rice, maize, and a wide range of vegetables. The station emphasizes the responsible and safe management of insect pests, plant diseases, and weeds, alongside the demonstration and dissemination of innovative agricultural technologies. These technologies include integrated crop management, smart agriculture, precision farming, the application of biological products, drone-based crop protection solutions, and comparative demonstration plots. Through these plots, farmers can clearly observe the differences between conventional farming practices and Syngenta’s science-based management approaches, enabling the practical adoption of proven solutions. This initiative also supports the elevation of agricultural produce to meet quality standards that are safe for consumers and environmentally responsible.
Covering an area of approximately 56,400 square meters, the R&D Station is expected to commence operations in mid-2026. Syngenta Thailand remains committed to conducting its business in a sustainable and efficient manner, while supporting local employment, fostering collaboration with communities and educational institutions, and facilitating the transfer of agricultural technologies and innovations. Through these efforts, Syngenta aims to contribute to long-term agricultural development and further strengthen food security in Thailand.
