Digital Skill Development Academy (DISDA) and Huawei Kick Off “Future Direction of Thailand Digital Workforce” Event

Reaffirming their commitment to enhance Thailand’s digital skills

The Digital Skill Development Academy (DISDA), under the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development (DSD), in collaboration with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co. Ltd., today kicked off the “Future Direction of Thailand Digital Workforce” event and launched its second batch of Mobile App Development Foundation Course and the Huawei Developer Day, with the goal to produce much-needed digital workers through upskilling and reskilling. To be held virtually through Huawei’s self-learning platform, the new course aims to train 800 – 1,000 talents to help Thailand strengthen its ICT foundation with intensive digital talent cultivation.

The public and private alliance is part of the 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Department of Skill Development (DSD), under the Ministry of Labour, and Huawei Thailand in October 2020. The two parties vowed to create and facilitate learning opportunities in the digital scene. This year’s collaboration has been adapted to ensure more people has access to digital learning. The new batch of the digital course is in line with the goal to produce 3,000 digital workers and 120 government officers, under this cooperation.

Following the tremendous success of the first course organized last June, DISDA and Huawei announced they have been working closely to develop their second course, focusing on teaching participants the basics of application development and how to create the best experience for their users. The second training program will be organized via Huawei’s world class e-learning platform called “HiCLC.”  Gathering industry experts and experienced app developers, the intensive 48-hour program will cover an overview of how to develop and release an impressive app on Android and Huawei App Gallery.

The new hands-on program is designed for young IT students and industry professionals as well as the general public with an interest and passion in application development.

As evidence of learning and proof of skills, those who finish the course and pass the exam will receive DSD’s skills certificate as well as Huawei’s Training Course Certificate. They will join the active ICT workforce ecosystem that helps enhance the country’s competitiveness.

Mobile App Development Foundation Course announcement was made during Huawei Developer Day (HDD) 2021 – Future of Thailand Digital Workforce.
