Truffle Craze at Scarlett Bangkok With French Truffle Master Christopher Poron

          2020 is off to a great start as we are celebrating truffle season at Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant with a special pop-up event with French Truffle Master, Christopher Poron.
          From the heart of Provence in the southwest of France to the tables of Scarlett, on 30th and 31st January, renowned French Truffle Master Christoper Poron will surprise and share truffle wisdom with customers. Whether you're a true truffle connoisseur or simply curious to learn, let Christoper Poron guide you on how to eat and talk about truffles like a pro.
          For almost a century Maison Plantin, has been supplying truffles to restaurants across France. In 1986, Herve Poron took over Maison Plantin and was later joined by his son Christopher Poron who inherited his father's passion and incredible knowledge of truffles. Today, the company's truffle expertise has been prized by great chefs including Joël Robuchon, Benoit Violier and Yannick Alleno, and exported as far as the United States, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
          Found below the surface of trees including oak and hazel, the truffle is an underground mushroom that can only be found through cavage, a method of harvesting truffles. Certain animals including dogs and pigs are used to help find the truffles through their sense of smell. But not all truffles are created equally, only certain varieties have gastronomic value and are harvested depending on the season. The Perigord Black Truffle, also known as the black diamond, is found during the months between late November until early March. On the other hand, the Summer Truffle, as the name suggests, can only be found between the months of May until August.
          Christopher Poron, together with Scarlett's Chef de Cuisine, Sylvain Royer, will collaborate in the kitchen to create a menu that brings the aromatic and flavourful truffle to the forefront. Delight in an intimate evening with Chrisopher Poron, as he presents his truffle collection and delights diners with fascinating insights about these fabulous fungi. The truffle menu, available as a la carte, starts from THB 520++ per dish.
