Techsauce Global Summit 2019

Bosch highlights AI-driven solutions for various industries
          - Shaping the future of mobility: Artificial intelligence is vital for a more personalized, connected, and electrified mobility.
          - Bosch Industry 4.0: Harnessing cloud computing and artificial intelligence to improve manufacturing and performance.
          - Bosch Smart Agriculture: Smart solutions to help farmers increase yield in a sustainable way.

Bangkok, Thailand – From Industry 4.0 to smart agriculture and solutions driving the future of mobility, Bosch is showing a wide variety of connected solutions for different business sectors at Bosch Innovation House at the Techsauce Global Summit 2019. Artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing is taking center stage in the company's push towards a connected world.
Bosch views AI as a core area of expertise. The technology and services company aims to be a world leader in AI innovation: by 2021, Bosch plans to quadruple the number of its in-house AI experts from 1,000 to 4,000. By the middle of the next decade, 100 percent of Bosch products will be equipped with AI, or AI will have played a part in their development and manufacturing.
Mr. Joseph Hong, managing director of Bosch in Thailand, reiterated the important role innovation plays in how Bosch develops its technologies: "The participants at the Techsauce Global Summit 2019 have the chance to experience Bosch Innovation House, and see how connectivity is expanding in every business sector. Bosch continues to shape and drive transformation, with a special focus on mobility and IoT connectivity," said Mr. Hong.
The three focus areas of the company that will be on display at the Techsauce Global Summit 2019 are: future of mobility, Industry 4.0, and smart agriculture.
          Shaping the future of mobility
For the future of mobility, AI plays a vital role in personalizing, automating, connecting and electrifying the way we get around. This includes vehicles using Bosch's AI onboard computer to recognize pedestrians, cyclists or even turn signals of other cars through object recognition. The Bosch Automotive Cloud Suite was developed to harness the potential of connectivity and provides the basis for all services in connected cars. Cloud technology is a vital part of opening up new opportunities to further develop and improve mobility services like wrong-way driver alerts or community-based parking.
Driving industry performance
Bosch sees future business potential in a wider range of variants and more personalized products. Production capabilities must therefore be able to adapt quickly to changing market requirements. Bosch Industry 4.0 solutions help improve manufacturing by collecting and analyzing data to improve performance in all kinds of areas such as production, logistics or maintenance. One example is ActiveCockpit, an interactive platform that processes and visualizes production data in real time. ActiveCockpit networks IT applications such as production planning and quality data management.
Another Bosch AI-driven technology is the Manufacturing Analytics Solutions (MAS). It is a central scalable analytics solution in manufacturing plants, which automates data streaming to a powerful big data infrastructure, taking the digital factory to the next level.
Smart agriculture: Increasing yield in a sustainable way
In agriculture, a lot depends on environmental conditions, sound decision-making and optimized value networks to ensure maximum yields and quality. Bosch's sensors, IoT data-management, and analytics capabilities – backed up by a reliable software, service and cloud infrastructure – assist with this complex decision-making process and offers full control when it comes to digital farming. The technology assists in crop monitoring, yield and disease protection as well as irrigation optimization. One example that is hugely relevant for Thailand's aquaculture sector is AquaEasy, an integrated digital cloud solution for shrimp farms. Sensors enable farmers to monitor water quality and collect operational data, thus reducing costs and improving efficiency. FUJI Plantect, a smart solution that analyzes sensor data using artificial intelligence technologies to optimize plant growing in greenhouses, also uses a similar approach.

          Bosch's expert lineup at Techsauce
Mr. Francois Vervial, senior business development manager at Bosch Southeast Asia, will be speaking at "Exploring the Future of Mobility." He noted that Bosch is already actively involved in rolling out mobility solutions initiatives throughout the region. "Thailand has a great opportunity to make huge advances in both its capital, Bangkok, as well as its rapidly growing cities nationwide in terms of clean transportation options, electrification and greener mobility by utilizing connected solutions. Bosch is capable of supporting and adding value to Thailand's mobility eco-system, especially in the areas of digitalization and connectivity."
Mr. Sandeep Sharma, business development manager at Bosch India, will be speaking on data bias and how to ensure AI saves lives and ensures privacy. "AI will become an important and integral part of our daily lives, driving us around in cars, managing our appointments, answering questions or managing our smart homes. This wealth of possibilities does, however, need to be handled responsibly. Companies and civil societies need to work together to define important ethical standards," concluded Mr. Sharma.
Bosch believes that data security can be guaranteed through "security and privacy by design" as well as multi-level security concepts. The two topics covered by Bosch's representatives at the Techsauce Global Summit 2019 demonstrate how Bosch is ready to advance technology, digitalization and connectivity in a way that will benefit Thailand in the three key segments of mobility, Industry 4.0 and smart agriculture.
