A Victory for Volvo and a Victory for the Environment

It's now two out of two for Volvo!  The second round of the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) at Ring Knutstorp gave the Volvo team an amazing second triumph with Robert Dahlgren once again the winner again after the team was standing on top of the podium in the first race only two weeks ago.
The Swedish Touring Car Championship is the world's first production car championship ever in which bioethanol (E85) is allowed.  True to their environmental principles, Volvo Cars Sweden has set its sights on winning it!  In the first race of the 2007 season, history was written as Robert Dahlgren of Polestar Racing, Volvo Cars' official STCC team, finished on top of the podium as the first driver with bioethanol in the tank.  Then, just two weeks later, in the second race, Volvo wins again!  And as Robert Dahlgren said after the first victory: "Above all, this is a victory for the environment".
With 'care for the environment' as a core value, it is important for Volvo Cars to take initiatives as the car manufacturer that leads the field.  In Sweden, the STCC is seen as a valuable opportunity for Volvo to be involved and lead the development of greener motor sport.
“A victory like this confirms our strength.  And it is also a confirmation that our investment in the environment is strong.” says Paul Stokes, President of Volvo Car (Thailand).  “Through this success, Volvo, one of the very first manufacturers to officially adopt the eco-friendly E85 fuel in the FIA’s global Super 2000 product technical regulations, also become the first manufacturer in the world to win on ethanol power.”
The great result during the weekend means that Volvo Original Racing team is moving ahead, both in the driver and the brand championship.  Volvo Car (Thailand) congratulates the team and will keep our fingers crossed for future victories in the rest of the 2007 season of STCC.  To find our more, visit http://www.stcc.se/ (Swedish only).
