ATTA Gallery proudly presents Solo Exhibition “One Piece” by Nora Rochel June 19-July 14, 2012

ATTA Gallery, the only gallery in Thailand specializes in Contemporary Art Jewelry, proudly presents solo exhibition “One Piece” by a German artist Noral Rochel from June 19-July 14, 2012, with the Opening Reception on Tuesday June 19, 2012 between 18:30-20:30.

About Artists & Exhibition:
Nora Rochel was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1979 to German/Korean parents. She received her formal education from the well-known Jewelry Design Department of the University of Applied Science in Pforzheim, Germany in 2009. During her study she also spent a semester at Kookmin University in Korea. Though her jewelry focuses on feminine flowery motives, it also carries a hint of masculine sensitivity which is characteristic of her lost wax casting technique. Her works have been exhibited, recognized as well as included in many international publications. Nora Rochel has exhibited in Asia before but this is her first time exhibiting in Bangkok.
Nora Rochel’s newest body of work is an homage to the age old technique of lost wax casting, giving new meaning to the term “One Piece”. Taking the saying literally, her new creations are all cast in one piece, thanks to the unique technique of connecting all pieces using tiny sprues that allow the liquid metal to flow through the cast, eliminating the need to join the metal pieces through other fabrication techniques. As a humorous reminder that a dress is just a one cast version of a blouse and a skirt, Nora Rochel adds a new element to her work by introducing cloth structures and laces in unexpected places.
