London, 18 May 2012 -- The outlook on Belarus's banking system remains negative, principally reflecting continued stress in the country's macroeconomic conditions, says Moody's Investors Service in a new Banking System Outlook published today. The rating agency says that the key drivers of the negative outlook are (i) the government's diminished ability to extend support to banks and to the overall economy; (ii) Moody's expectation that asset quality and capital adequacy will deteriorate further; and (iii) the vulnerability of banks' foreign-currency liquidity.
