Launches inaugural HP Digital Print Awards 2010 (Asia Pacific & Japan) – HP Scitex

          HP today announced the launch of signage industry’s first digital print awards, organised by a major printer manufacturer – HP Digital Print Awards 2010 (Asia Pacific & Japan) – HP Scitex. The Awards has been developed leveraging HP’s global digital printing expertise and leadership position in the graphics art industry in Asia Pacific.
          The HP Digital Print Awards 2010 (Asia Pacific & Japan) – HP Scitex, will serve to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of Print Service Providers (PSPs) in the signage industry across Asia Pacific and Japan.
          “These awards have an important role to play in enhancing the service standards and quality of digital print signage across the industry. We want PSPs to realize that with the right partner and large format printing solution, opportunities for creating vividly stunning works are limitless”, Martin Carballo, Director, HP Scitex – Graphic Solutions Business, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan. “We want to encourage PSPs to constantly innovate, break new frontiers and gain competitive advantage in the industry”.
          The launch of HP Digital Print Awards 2010 (Asia Pacific & Japan) – HP Scitex provides a platform for PSPs in the signage industry to showcase their digitally printed signage and latest technological advancements. Most importantly, these Awards will serve as an inspiration to all PSPs and encourage them to achieve similar feats of excellence. The Awards will only be open to companies from across Asia Pacific and Japan for entries that are printed by HP Scitex Large format printers.
          HP Digital Print Awards 2010 (Asia Pacific & Japan) – HP Scitex will have five key categories:
          — Transit Graphic covers vehicle wraps and fleet graphics.
          — Interior Advertising includes point-of-sale materials, interior signage, and floor or wallpaper graphics.
          — Outdoor Advertising covers building wraps, billboard signage, floor
    graphics, backlit signage and textile (flags & banners) graphics.

          — Printing on Rigid Substrates includes any decorative printing on rigid substrates such as glass or ceramic or wood.
          — Green Digital Printing: this will cover print jobs done with a combination of the following parameters:
          — Inks: using dye-based, latex inks, and UV inks.
          — Printing Substrates:  using environmental-friendly printing materials that are recyclable such as non-PVC-based banner, cotton-based fabrics, recycle paper. 

          Each category will have three winners – Gold, Silver and Bronze. A total of 16 Awards will be given out across the five categories. This includes a Platinum Award for one overall winner from across all the five categories.
          A comprehensive judging process will operate for the Awards and once submissions have been received, a panel of internationally renowned judges from the graphics arts and signage industries will evaluate each entry. Key judging criteria that the judges will look out for are Creativity, Appearance, Marketing Appeal, Best Use of Inks & Colors and Client Satisfaction.
          Submissions for the Awards are now open and will close on 30th April 2010. This year’s winners will be notified by 31st May 2010 and the results will be officially announced during the Awards Dinner on 07th July 2010 at the 18th Shanghai International Advertising and Sign Technology and Equipment Exhibition.
