A huge victory for all Thai motorsport fans, as the 15 year old Thai racing driver from Rayong, Sandy Stuvik finally and officially becomes the Champion of Asian Formula Renault 2010 in the evening of 12 December 2010 at Zhuhai International Circuit in China with a total score of 286 points, 89 points in front of the second placed driver.

Although Sandy already mathematically had won the championship in the previous round, it was not until this weekend he officially could claim the Championship. He finished the last two races in champion style, taking a second place and a dominant victory in the final race. Sandy Nicholas Stuvik then takes Thailand’s first Asian Championship title. Being only 15 years old, he is the youngest champion in Asian Formula Renault history. He is also the only driver who managed to finish on the podium in every one of the 14 races this season.
In addition, Sandy was an important key to pushing Asia Racing Team (ART) to win the team Championship as well. Sandy’s French coach, Philippe Descombes, a former European F3 champion said “Of course the team is very proud of winning the title. I have to say that I am pretty happy with the development of Sandy this season, we had some nice pole positions and great fight as well. In Shanghai he competitively raced against drivers much more experienced than him and beat them. Sandy’s success is that he is very consistent on track and rarely makes mistakes, which allows him to finish all his races with good points”.

“The 2011 EuroCup and European racing in general will definitely be the way to go for Sandy, despite his young age, I am pretty sure that Sandy will adapt quickly and learn from this field, of course testing and learning new tracks will be very important for him. I do really hope that Sandy will get the necessary support and finance to race in Europe, he deserves it very much.”
Sandy said “First of all I would like to thank everyone for all the encouragement and support from Thailand. I am very proud to be Thailand’s first Asian Formula Renault Champion! I would like to promote Thailand as much as I can. F1 is my goal. I hope to be competing in the Euro Cup next year. That would be a great challenge for me, since some of the most talented racing drivers in the world are competing in this series. I can’t wait to race with them. I will be testing at the Catalunya circuit in Spain next week in preparation for the 2011 EuroCup season. I am very grateful to my sponsors The Pizza Company, Dacon Inspection Services and TÜV SÜD PSB for their support through the season and through my career – without them this championship victory would not have been possible!”
Sandy has lately been receiving many offers to race in USA, Australia and Europe. He has already tested with one of the top European racing teams at the Spa-Francorchamps and Nurburgring Circuits.
