The Public Relations Society of Thailand (PRST) announces the recipients of the 23rd “Sang Ngern” (Silver Conch) Award for 2009-2010, the most prestigious and recognized public relations decoration in Thailand.
The “Sang Ngern” Award is presented to outstanding organizations, projects and individuals that achieve excellent public relations performances and extensively promote communication and public relations professions to the public.
The 2009-2010 award ceremony is chaired by Minister to the Prime Minister's Office H.E. Ongart Klampaiboon, held on September 20, 2010 at Dusit Thani Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel.
President of the Public Relations Society of Thailand Dr. Phot Jaichansukkit says that PRST, through the year, extensively screens outstanding organizations, projects and individuals from both governmental and private sectors for their outstanding public relations performances that promote both the professions as well as the public interest. The PRST “Sang Ngern” Judging Committee is chaired by Khun Jitana Julakasevi and Khun Sakchai Ruangkittikul.
The 23rd “Sang Ngern" Award is divided into 3 categories: 1) Individual 2) Organization and 3) Project. President of the Public Relations Society of Thailand further addresses that public relations is one of the key management strategies in organizational and national levels for driving and interacting with groups or individuals in various dimensions. In the era of boundary less communication that technology developments, competitive situations, organizational managements and ways of life are rapid-growing, information has a great impact on people's decision makings. Public relations to create awareness, understanding, reputation and image is therefore essential. In recent years, Thailand has been facing massive changes in the politics, economy and society. While the economic crisis effects the operations of public and private sectors, the political crisis apparently leads to misunderstanding and divided thoughts that ultimately impacts on our social structure. Public relations increasingly becomes a important tool that provides opportunities and challenges to improve the situations. By using abilities and adapted strategies, it creates possible reconciliation and mutual understanding successfully in corporate and national levels.
Minister to the Prime Minister's Office H.E. Ongart Klampaiboon expresses his gratitude that organizations, projects and individuals from public and private sectors show their interest in public relations and realize its importance that can be adopted in their operations to generate huge benefits to the public and the nation, especially those receiving awards today are proven for their outstanding performances by acclaimed judges. He would like to encourage more people and organizations to be aware of the changed public relations concept - from the old-fashioned that only seeks profit for a company, to creating public benefits. Therefore it is a tool to cultivate one's faith in organizations or persons.
Thailand is now in a period of problem-solving, economic revival and social reform for well-beings and security of all Thai people. Co-operations are needed from all public and private sectors to go forward accordingly in the same direction, for secure national management, economic recovery and strong growth in the future. Therefore Information and public relations strategies are crucial as a tool to create mass energy. The Minister also expresses his appreciation to the Public Relations Society of Thailand for selecting outstanding public relations organizations, projects and individuals persons and continually hosting the ceremonies of "Sang Ngern Award" as its 23rd time for this year. It is considered a creative activity widely beneficial to professions and organizations including the society and the nation.
