October at Kisso is a month of sweet anticipation. With characteristic flair and creativity, Chef Ikeda and his culinary team have introduced a special selection of irresistible Japanese desserts – the perfect way to end a wonderful meal at the highly regarded restaurant.
Japanese desserts are both nutritious and delicious. Common ingredients include rice flour, red azuki beans and green tea. Butter and milk are rarely, meaning diners can enjoy sweet treats that are lower in fat and healthy too.
Temptations at Kisso throughout October include open dorayaki, a Japanese pancake served with sweet chestnuts and dried fruit. Lovers of ice cream will be seduced by cream mitsumame, a Japanese fruit salad served with vanilla ice cream and sweet red bean jam, and the ice shu tempura, two flavours of deep-fried ice cream served with a sweet red bean sauce.
Other uniquely Japanese desserts include gyuhi matcha, green tea cake rolled in sticky rice sheet with mango sauce, and gyuhi ichigo, strawberries and cream rolled in sticky rice sheet and served with a green tea sauce.
